Hey there readers,
Hope all is good. Here’s the next instalment of my infamous newsletter (infamous now, and maybe one day it will be world famous - I can but hope).
Disclaimer:
This is not perfect, and there will be typos and parts that are not neatly glued together. But the point is more to build up my newsletter count and have a bit of fun. You can point out my mistakes, and I will ignore you and make more of them.
You’re welcome!!
So, what’s on my mind? Keep reading….
Don’t waste your time with ones that are not supportive of the journey you are taking.
Thinking
It’s been a while, and here we are, back with a new post, just for you. I’ve had to take a little break from the continuous/frequent flow, as I have been skilling up and also experimenting/exploring in new directions, which I’ll go over later on in this post.
Time really does fly. I mean, it was back in August that I last delivered my mind dump to you. And yet, it seems like a good thing to do, in order to build up content and not just drivel on and on, mindlessly :)
News
Big Brother is back!!!
Some of you readers (who know me well) will know that I have a keen interest in Big Brother, especially the UK version. I don’t know why, but the strange quirky nature of us UK folks tends to make for “interesting” viewing. I’ve tried watching the US version and not really managed more than a couple or so episodes.
Anyways, when the original version (UK Channel 4 television days), I always wanted to go to one of the LIVE Evictions. Unfortunately, knowing how to get the tickets was not quite as accessible as it is today. I pondered the thought of just rocking up unannounced and edging my bets for entry. Back then, there wasn’t Google Maps on the phone to try and navigate exactly (I had to work it out from home and hope for the best). Of course, I got lost and headed back, without that badge of success.
Right back to modern times and everything has all changed. Still intent on achieving my goal (Don’t Give Up), I researched into the possibility of attending a LIVE Eviction. And yes, it was a lot easier, especially as it is in London now and not so out in the sticks, in what seemed a random location. All I had to do was request the tickets and keep my fingers crossed that I would be granted my wish. I mean, seriously, do you know who I am?
Boom!!!! Luck was on my side, and it was confirmed, I was heading to a LIVE Eviction. I have to say, it was a very streamlined process. Somewhat resembling airport security, only a little stricter. Especially with mobile phones, where they have to be secured in a fabric pouch. I’m assuming they don’t want to be filming with everyone on their phones (not paying attention), recording themselves, live streaming, posing and whatever.
It was a great experience and very much worth the effort.
Reading
Documentation
No books this time round. However, I have had to read a number of technical documents due to updating my website and associated projects.
Watching
Sound of Freedom
This is quite a controversial movie, that seems to have been given a very low profile. It is based on a true story, which I am not going to spoil it for anyone who wants to go and see it. It was a great, albeit disturbing (given the reality of its base) movie.
The Equalizer 3
I usually think that follow-on movies are not so much of a good idea (well, after the second one that usually ties a few loose threads). This movie was not so creative, and yet it was still a good watch. I didn’t fall asleep is what I am really trying to say (or did I?). Having said that, I do hope there is not another one to follow, as then it will end up being like the Fast ‘N’ Furious franchise.
Creative Zone
Creativity is the core of my existence, It’s a creative rollercoaster of producing either music tracks, mixtapes, 3d scenes, or digital garments. Sometimes you have to take time out, engulf yourself in new techniques and ideas and then go again. Watch this space….periodically new stuff will be here.
DamajaUK website
The DamajaUK website is an on-going project that will just keep on evolving. From a visual sense, there may not be so much change in the last month or two, but, under the covers there has been a number of changes, in terms of improvements and efficiency.
Big Brother mini-site
A new addition to the DamajaUK domain (and debated for a moment as to whether this was actually going to happen), is a mini-site based around Big Brother UK. This is something that used to be on the old DamajaUK site, and with this new iteration was not included initially. Once it returned to the screens, the decision was set to recreate that experience. And of course keep the skills of web development going strong.
And here we have a creative spin on presenting the data that powers the DamajaUK Big Bro website, into some with less boundaries. More on that to follow in future posts.
Advice
Reset and go again
I don’t know about you, but sometimes with living life, personal projects and work, it can get a little draining. The weekends just don’t seem to be enough time to recover before another week begins.
What I have done this time is to take a work break, for a week (even a couple of days will suffice, if you fir it around a weekend), and just slow down. Even if you spend one of those days doing absolutely nothing, it is not a bad thing. You will be refreshed and ready to hit the ground running once again.
Till the next time
And that is it, the end of this post. Hopefully this is enough to encourage you to return for more. Each post will be different, and include different elements of my thoughts depending on what has happened in the day-to-day life from the last post.
Remember, if you found this useful/entertaining just drop a like. If you have any suggestions for future post elements, just drop me a line. I have enabled the chat functionality, so you are able to communicate through that channel. Thanks.
Stay safe and I’ll catch you in the next post.
